about

“Stay” playfully explores a difficult topic for artists — wanting to settle and put some roots down. Though written from the perspective of a touring musician, anyone who’s looking to shift gears can relate. It’s got some tight Earth, Wind & Fire inspired guitars in the chorus, a catchy hook, and a generous helping of “Bros. Landreth” style three-part harmony.

lyrics

There’s something ‘bout this time of year
Something ‘bout the look on your face
It makes me wanna stick around
For more than just a couple days

Must be something in the atmosphere
That’s got me spinning in your space
I could put some roots in the ground
A fixed address beneath my name

There’s something in the way you are
Something in the way you light this place

I just wanna stay
I just wanna stay a little longer

Maybe we could be a family
Maybe I could even make some friends
I could get myself a day job
Nine to five, gonna meet those ends

There’s no use in complaining
And things shouldn’t change, but I’m just saying

I just want to stay
I just want to stay a little longer (don’t let me)
Push you away (don’t)
I just want to stay a little longer

Oh I just wanna to stay
I just wanna stay a little longer
I just wanna stay
I just wanna stay a little longer
